Library

The library was started (almost by accident) within a couple of months of opening the bar.

At first it was just a few of our own books on a “Flat pack” style shelf. Before long our customers were leaving us their read books rather than carry them around in there bags. Next we made it official and put a “Reading Point” sign up outside

Soon enough we needed to make something a bit bigger and sturdier. Now we have a purpose “Built in” book shelf with over 400 titles.

How does it work?

People bring in their finished books and for every one we put a donation into “Dog Rescue Samui”( www.samuidog.org ). The books are not sold but stay part of the library. They can be read here for free – even if your not a customer!

Books can also be rented, in which case we ask for 1000 Baht when the book is taken and when it’s returned we give back 850 Baht – the 150 Baht buys travel books and phrase books plus replaces stolen titles.

One of the biggest pass-times when on holiday or travelling is reading. Our library makes it cheaper to read and saves carrying around finished books in your luggage that you can’t bear to leave behind because you know how much they cost you in the first place.
